Silver Lake Interdivisional Dive Sonar Box, 9-18-14
It all started just west of the "I" in Kenosha County. Here's the latest update from Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Bill Beth:
"The search for Mr. Spoor will continue today on the waters of Silver Lake. Incident Command is being led by Silver Lake Fire Chief Allison Draeger. The current plan involves first checking the shoreline areas and then resuming the sonar search in the deeper waters. We’re also expecting assistance from cadaver dogs today. Agencies involved in the search include the Wisconsin DNR, Kenosha Sheriff’s Department Marine Unit, Village of Silver Lake Fire Department, Town of Salem Fire Department, and Town of Randall Fire Department."
John Spoor, 66, from McHenry, Illinois, was reported missing by his family on Tuesday. His unattended boat was discovered on Silver Lake, along with his vehicle parked in the village.
Search efforts by fire department and law enforcement personnel began around 10:30 PM on Tuesday and continued until 2 AM on Wednesday. They resumed their search at 8 AM and carried on until about 8 PM on Wednesday.
UPDATE 1:55 PM – County Dive Team members have been toned out to respond to the Silver Lake village boat launch for a non-emergency response.

As night fell, the determination of these rescue teams was evident. The coordination between various departments has been nothing short of impressive. The use of advanced technology, like sonar equipment, alongside traditional methods such as shoreline searches, shows the dedication of everyone involved in this mission.
The community has rallied around the search efforts, offering support and prayers for a positive outcome. As the sun sets over Silver Lake, it’s clear that the search will not stop until every possible lead is exhausted.
